“Sustainability is not a trend. It’s a culture we embrace.”
Heritage Systems recognizes water as a prized resource
and considers conservation for current and future generations a priority.
1. Purpose
This policy establishes Heritage Systems, Inc.'s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices. It reflects our role as a water and environmental services company providing solutions for the management, conservation, conveyance, treatment, monitoring, and use of potable water, process water, and wastewater.
2. Our Commitment
We will integrate environmental responsibility into our operations, technical services, product selection, project design, purchasing, field activities, and client solutions. We will seek practical improvements that conserve water and energy, reduce waste and emissions, support compliant wastewater management, and protect environmental quality while maintaining safety, reliability, and sound technical performance.
3. Environmental & Sustainability Principles
- Water stewardship. Promote efficient water use, conservation, responsible treatment, and appropriate reuse strategies. Evaluate opportunities to reduce unnecessary water consumption in our own operations and in the systems we design, operate, maintain, or support for clients.
- Energy efficiency and emissions reduction. Use monitoring, automation, controls, maintenance, and operating strategies to reduce avoidable energy consumption. Heritage Systems’ PondSentry® approach exemplifies this principle by using real-time dissolved oxygen feedback to control aeration; the company reports average pond-operation electrical savings of 50% to 60% since its introduction.
- Waste prevention and responsible materials management. Favor source reduction, reuse, recycling, proper storage, and responsible disposal. Select products, equipment, and treatment approaches with consideration for performance, longevity, handling requirements, and environmental impact.
- Environmentally responsible chemistry. Apply chemical treatment only where technically appropriate, use sound dosing and control practices, and consider downstream wastewater and land-application impacts when selecting cleaning, sanitizing, treatment, and process-water solutions.
- Pollution prevention and environmental protection. Work to prevent spills, releases, overflows, unnecessary discharges, and other avoidable environmental impacts through proper containment, maintenance, monitoring, training, and operating procedures.
